You can't trust the internet on April 1st

Hi Reader,

From hotdog flavored whiskey to IKEA’s meatball lollipops, we cannot trust the internet on April 1st.

I have been working hard for the past 3+ months getting a new quiz up and running. This one uses 100% my own IP (instead of borrowing from Jim Henson).

I spent hours drawing graphics for each result, days designing the dossier style results pages that actually look like files from an archive.

I obsessed over the questions, logo for the fictional agency, all of it.

I was so excited, I even created a Choose Your Own Adventure-style launch sequence that I thought would be a fun adventure leading up to taking the quiz.

However, I sent the first email of the adventure on April 1st.

And apparently it was confusing...

And... I also found out my email service was having an issue at that time, so it's possible the links didn't work.

Triple d'oh!

This is what I get for trying to be clever... 🫣

Lesson learned! Don’t be clever with a launch if you send it out on April 1st. 🤦🏼‍♀️

All this to say...

I have a new quiz!

I hope you'll take it!

Claire 💛

P.S. I launched a new quiz on April 1st with a maybe-too-clever choose your own adventure email. Take the assessment here.

Hi Reader! I’ve been deep into website redesign the past couple weeks (Wordpress... #iykyk) and I'm almost ready to deploy it! So, my website will be down this weekend for a few days. I'll let you know when it's back up and you can check it out! Why the change? I outgrew my old “single page” site and wanted more room to stretch out! With the discovery of The Creative Goblin Way came a lot of new certainty and clarity around how I help fiction writers ditch the rules, fall back in love with...

Hi Reader, Every evening, I water my new xeriscaped garden. One of the big planters I got as decorative elements full of petunias is called Big Red. She is the largest of the five pots full of annuals I bought. Big Red also happens to be home to approximately seventeen thousand earwigs. (This number has not been scientifically verified, but emotionally? It's accurate). The second the water hits the soil, those nightmare creatures come crawling out of the darkness. Tiny legs. Tiny antennae....

Hi Reader, How are you? I’m good… Remember starting letters like that as a kid? Oh the days of the pen pal... I'm getting close to completing my next short story collection! It's an eclectic mix of all the writings I did during my Writing From the Top of Your Head® facilitator certification training and my own 5-minute writing practice. The collection shall be called: Odds & Beginnings. I'm currently drawing the cover in Procreate. When it's ready, I'll give you a sneak peek! My musical is...
